Caring for Silk & Lace: Make Luxury Last Years
Luxury pieces deserve gentle care — and it is easier than you think.
Washing silk. Hand wash in cool water with a pH-neutral soap (baby shampoo works). Never wring; press water out in a towel and dry flat away from sunlight.
Washing lace. Use a mesh laundry bag on the gentlest machine cycle, or hand wash. Always close hooks first so they don't snag.
Storage. Fold bras with cups nested (never fold one cup into the other), keep silk away from direct sun, and use lavender sachets instead of mothballs.
In Pakistan's summer: wash silk more gently but more often, and dry indoors — direct 40°C sun fades dyes in a single afternoon.
